News / TV

ABC News

ABC News is the news division of ABC, owned by Disney. Its reporting is generally factually reliable. Editorial framing is center-left, consistent with major U.S. broadcast networks. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** ABC News's primary headline was 'In-flight attack on FlyDubai pilot puts aviation security measures under scrutiny.' This accurately describes the incident as an attack but immediately pivots to the aviation security meta-story rather than the terrorism/intent angle. The framing directs audience attention toward institutional failure (security screening) rather than Islamic radicalization. ABC also ran a technical follow-up: 'FlyDubai\'s recovery from extreme deep dive during attack \'extraordinary\': Aviation expert.' Neither headline identifies the attacker's religion, nationality, or stated motive.

News / TV

Al Jazeera

Al Jazeera is a state-funded Qatari news network. Qatar is a Muslim-majority Gulf state with documented ties to Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, and Islamist political movements globally. Al Jazeera's news coverage reflects those state interests. It is widely distributed and carries significant credibility among Western progressive audiences who mistake its anti-American and anti-Israel framing for neutrality. It is not neutral. It is the media arm of a state that funds Hamas. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage — a case study in editorial maneuvering:** Al Jazeera published multiple articles with carefully chosen framing: 1. 'What happened on the diverted Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv?' — neutral 'explainer' framing that avoids any characterization of the attack. 2. 'Flydubai co-pilot \'assaulted\' captain before landing: Initial Saudi probe' — scare quotes around 'assaulted' cast doubt on whether even the word 'assault' is accurate, attributing everything to a probe rather than stating what happened. 3. 'Flydubai attack gives Netanyahu new security message ahead of Israel vote' — this headline reframes the entire story. The event is not 'what happened' — it is a political tool Netanyahu is exploiting. The reader is directed to be suspicious of Netanyahu's motives rather than informed about an attempted mass murder of Jews. 4. 'How was the Flydubai co-pilot who attacked his captain cleared to fly?' — the one headline that uses 'attacked' without scare quotes, but frames it as an aviation-security screening failure rather than terrorism. Al Jazeera's FlyDubai coverage is a textbook example of how state-directed media can technically report facts while systematically preventing the audience from understanding them.

News / TV

BBC

The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) is the UK's publicly funded national broadcaster, required by charter to be impartial. It is the most-consumed international news source globally. In practice, BBC reporting shows a consistent center-left tilt on cultural and political topics, and documented patterns of disproportionate coverage critical of Israel and the United States. It self-identifies as neutral. Independent monitors broadly categorize it as center-left. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** The BBC's initial headline described the incident as a 'fight between pilots,' later updated to 'physical altercation between the pilots.' Both formulations are seriously misleading. The BBC had access to the same passenger accounts as other outlets — including an 18-year-old passenger, Oran Choen, who specifically told the BBC itself that he heard 'Allahu Akbar' shouted from the cockpit before the dive. The BBC received direct testimony about the religious motive and did not include it in its headline or framing. Its initial coverage did not describe it as a hijacking attempt, a terrorist attack, or a crash attempt. A deepfake BBC report circulated falsely blaming Indian passengers — the BBC rightly debunked this, but the incident illustrates how the BBC's own coverage left a factual vacuum that disinformation filled.

News / TV

BlazeTV

Conservative subscription streaming network founded by Glenn Beck. Hosts multiple conservative commentary shows and serves as a distribution platform for independent conservative media.

News / TV 0 current · 3 former

CBS News

CBS News is the news division of the CBS broadcast network. Its reporting is generally factually reliable. Like most major U.S. broadcast networks, its editorial framing skews center-left on cultural and political topics. Generally more measured in its advocacy than cable news counterparts. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** CBS News's headline was among the more informative of the major networks: 'FlyDubai co-pilot stabbed captain, tried to crash flight to Israel after \'radical indoctrination,\' Netanyahu says.' This correctly identifies the co-pilot as the attacker, names the crash attempt, identifies the flight as Israel-bound, and includes the radicalization context — though it frames the radicalization as Netanyahu's claim rather than reported fact. Did not report 'Allahu Akbar' or co-pilot's Omani nationality in headline.

News / TV

CNBC

CNBC is NBC Universal's financial/business news network. Its financial and economic reporting is generally reliable and well-sourced. On non-financial news, it tends toward mainstream center-left framing consistent with its parent network. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** CNBC's headline was among the most accurate and direct of the major outlets: 'Passengers and crew foil co-pilot\'s apparent attempt to crash FlyDubai flight to Israel.' This clearly names the co-pilot as the attacker, describes the intended action (crashing the plane), identifies the flight as Israel-bound, and credits passengers and crew with stopping the attack. One of the few initial headlines that accurately conveyed the severity of the event.

News / TV 0 current · 1 former

CNN

CNN (Cable News Network) is the largest U.S. cable news network. Its reporting is generally factually reliable but exhibits consistent progressive-liberal framing — story selection, headlines, and on-air commentary tilt left. Advertises itself as neutral but is widely recognized as center-left by independent media monitors. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage (September 30 – October 1, 2026):** CNN's initial headline was vague — 'What happened inside the Flydubai flight to Israel? What we know so far' — with live updates titled 'Dubai to Tel Aviv flight diverted to Saudi Arabia after pilot stabbed.' CNN later used explicit 'hijack attempt' language in follow-up coverage and passenger interviews. Notably, CNN's early coverage repeatedly described the incident as a 'violent altercation' before subsequent reporting acknowledged the attempted hijacking framing. CNN did identify the flight as Israel-bound and eventually covered the Omani co-pilot's radicalization.

MS NOW (formerly MSNBC)

MSNBC is NBCUniversal's progressive opinion-and-news cable network. It is the cable-TV counterpart of the Democratic Party's media apparatus — explicitly progressive, functionally an advocacy outlet. Unlike CNN and Fox, MSNBC does not present itself as neutral. Its hosts openly argue for progressive political positions. Its audience is the most politically homogeneous of any major cable news network. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage — non-coverage:** Based on monitoring of MSNBC's coverage in the 48 hours following the FlyDubai attack, no significant MSNBC segment or article on the incident has been identified. This absence is notable: the attempted mass murder of a plane full of passengers bound for Israel — foiled by heroic passengers who physically overpowered an Islamist attacker while the plane was in a 14,000-foot dive — was one of the largest aviation terrorism stories of 2026. MSNBC covered aviation safety and security extensively in other contexts. MSNBC's pattern of non-coverage is documented across multiple story categories: Islamic terrorist attacks on Jewish targets, black-on-white violent crime, mass Christian persecution by Islamist groups in sub-Saharan Africa, and illegal immigration-linked violent crime in Europe. The stories that are suppressed share a common feature: they would complicate the progressive narrative MSNBC is organized to advance. This record documents the FlyDubai non-coverage as part of that pattern. *(Verification of non-coverage via broadcast log is pending.)*

NBC News

NBC News is the news division of NBC, owned by Comcast/NBCUniversal. Its reporting is generally factually reliable but shows center-left editorial framing consistent with the broader NBCUniversal organization. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** NBC News's initial headline — 'Pilot stabbed his co-pilot in apparent attempt to crash Israel-bound plane, Netanyahu says' — contained a significant factual inversion: it was the CO-PILOT who stabbed the CAPTAIN/PILOT, not the other way around. Every other source — passengers, Israeli authorities, Saudi preliminary findings, and the UAE — confirmed the Omani first officer (co-pilot) attacked Captain Smit Machchhar. NBC had the attacker and victim reversed in its headline. The headline also attributes the crash-attempt framing solely to Netanyahu, despite multiple corroborating passenger accounts.

Sky News

Sky News is a British 24-hour news channel owned by Comcast/NBCUniversal. It is broadly center. Sky News Australia is distinctly more conservative and outspoken than its UK counterpart, which is more mainstream-centrist. Sky News UK's editorial culture has become more institutionally progressive in recent years. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** Sky News's headline described the incident as a 'brawl between pilots.' Like the BBC and Guardian, Sky News used language that strips the event of its terrorist character. 'Brawl' implies mutual, unplanned fighting — not a premeditated terrorist attack in which an Islamist co-pilot tried to crash a plane full of Jews. Sky News's framing was among the most deficient of the major outlets surveyed.

Publication

Associated Press

The Associated Press (AP) is the world's largest wire news service — its reporting is syndicated to thousands of outlets worldwide. AP is probably the single most influential force in setting the factual baseline of daily news globally. It self-identifies as neutral. It generally maintains factual accuracy on core facts but exhibits documented framing tendencies on Israel/Palestine stories — favoring Palestinian framing in conflict nomenclature and context. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** AP's initial wire coverage reported the stabbing and identified the flight as Israel-bound. Its follow-up human interest piece — 'A plumber and a dentist are praised as heroes in FlyDubai near-disaster' — pivots to the heroism of ordinary passengers, which is legitimate reporting, but notably avoids the terrorism/radicalization framing that Israeli, Saudi, and U.S. investigators were pointing to. Because AP's output is syndicated everywhere, its framing choices set the agenda for hundreds of downstream outlets.

Publication

Breitbart

Breitbart News is a right-leaning U.S. news and opinion website. It covers stories underreported by mainstream progressive outlets — Islamic terrorism, illegal immigration crime, and media bias — and covers them more completely on those specific beats. Its credibility is mixed: factual on its preferred topics, but prone to sensationalism and selective framing favorable to its political worldview. Its FlyDubai coverage was more factually complete and accurate than most mainstream outlets. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** Breitbart initially used the same 'brawl between pilots' language that other media used (reflecting early wire-service framing), but rapidly updated to call it a hijacking attempt and covered the Israeli passengers' heroism prominently. Breitbart's initial headline 'Israel-Bound Flight Diverted to Saudi Arabia After \'Brawl\' Between Pilots' put scare quotes around 'Brawl' to signal the inadequacy of that framing — a different editorial choice than BBC/Guardian/NYT, who used the word straight.

Daily Mail

The Daily Mail is a British conservative tabloid newspaper with a large international digital readership. Its editorial line is right-of-center on immigration, Islam, and national security. It is more likely than BBC/Guardian to use explicit terrorism framing when the attacker is Muslim. Factual accuracy is uneven — it breaks genuine stories alongside sensationalized reporting. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** Coverage confirmed but specific headline and URL not yet retrieved through web search. Based on the Daily Mail's documented editorial pattern on Islamic terrorism stories, it almost certainly used 'hijacking' or 'terror' language. Record to be updated when specific article is sourced.

New York Post

The New York Post is a right-leaning New York tabloid newspaper owned by News Corp. Its editorial line is conservative-populist. It is among the U.S. outlets most likely to cover Islamic terrorism, illegal immigration crime, and progressive media double standards prominently. Its tabloid format sometimes sensationalizes but its conservative beat coverage is generally factually solid. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** The New York Post reportedly covered major red flags about the Omani co-pilot that should have prevented him from being assigned to Israeli routes — including FlyDubai's contractual obligation under normalization agreements to exclude Omani pilots from Israel flights (Oman and Israel do not have diplomatic relations). Specific headline and article URL to be sourced and added.

Publication 10 current

New York Times

The New York Times is the most influential U.S. newspaper. It has significant editorial authority in setting the agenda for mainstream media. The Times positions itself as centrist but operates with a consistently progressive editorial line on cultural and political topics. Its factual reporting has been compromised on multiple documented occasions — see NYT emaciated Gaza child photograph (corrected after publication without retraction). It carries enormous weight in defining what 'the story' is for other outlets. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** The Times's initial report described the incident as: 'A plane flying from Dubai to Israel was diverted after an altercation between the pilot and co-pilot.' This framing is deeply deficient. 'Altercation' implies a mutual dispute between equal parties. The actual event: an Islamist-radicalized Omani co-pilot stabbed the captain, seized the controls, and drove the aircraft into a 14,000-foot dive while shouting 'Allahu Akbar,' in what Israeli, Saudi, UAE, and U.S. authorities all characterized as a terrorist attack. The Times's description would fit two pilots arguing over the flight plan. This is a representative example of the Times's documented pattern of suppressing the religious/ideological dimension of attacks on Israeli targets.

RedState

RedState is a conservative news and commentary website. It covers breaking news from a right-of-center perspective. Its reporting quality is uneven — credible on some stories, opinionated on others. On Islamic terrorism and Israel stories it tends to be more factually complete than mainstream progressive outlets. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** RedState reported on developing details of the attack, including new information about the Omani co-pilot's sabotage plot and major security red flags that reportedly should have prevented him from being cleared for the flight.

Publication

Reuters

Reuters is a British-based international wire news agency, one of the two largest in the world (with AP). Its output is syndicated globally and sets the factual baseline for hundreds of outlets. Reuters's core reporting is factually reliable. However, it has been criticized — including by its own journalists — for specific patterns in Israel/Palestine coverage: e.g., referring to Hamas as 'militants' rather than a designated terrorist organization, and delaying attributions of terrorist motive pending official confirmation. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** Reuters initially described the incident using 'pilots' struggle' language, then updated to identify the co-pilot as an Omani national and report the stabbing. Israeli officials specifically told Reuters the co-pilot was Omani — Reuters published this. Reuters's coverage improved over time and was more substantive than BBC/Guardian/Sky News, but early wire dispatches used the same neutral/'struggle' framing that downstream outlets picked up.

The Daily Wire

The Daily Wire is a conservative news and opinion publication and podcast network founded by Ben Shapiro, Jeremy Boreing, and others in 2015. It is among the most-consumed conservative media outlets in the United States. Ben Shapiro's show has a large daily audience across podcast and video platforms. The Daily Wire covers stories that mainstream progressive outlets underreport — Islamic terrorism, antisemitism, and media double standards are recurring topics. Its analysis is explicitly right-of-center and does not pretend neutrality. It is more reliable on Islamic terrorism and antisemitism stories than most mainstream outlets. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** The Daily Wire covered the incident accurately and extensively. The Ben Shapiro Show devoted two consecutive episodes to it: 'Everything We Know About the FlyDubai Hijacking Attempt' (Ep. 2516) and 'The Hijacking Story Just Got More Insane. Here\'s The Latest.' (Ep. 2517). Both used 'hijacking' directly and covered the Omani co-pilot\'s radicalization. This is the contrast to outlets that never used the word 'hijacking' in any coverage.

The Free Press (thefp.com) is an independent digital publication founded in 2023 by Bari Weiss, former New York Times opinion editor who resigned citing editorial pressure to suppress dissent from progressive orthodoxy. The Free Press publishes across the political spectrum — left-leaning and right-leaning writers appear regularly — with a stated commitment to heterodox, evidence-driven journalism. It consistently covers stories that mainstream progressive outlets underreport: Islamic terrorism, campus antisemitism, trans ideology's effect on children, and media bias itself. Its credibility is high among readers who value reportorial independence over ideological comfort. It is funded by subscribers rather than advertisers or institutional donors. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** The Free Press published at least three pieces on the incident, all framing it directly and accurately as a hijacking attempt: 1. An exclusive interview with Yaniv Hayoun, the Israeli passenger who physically subdued the attacker — 'I Ran Toward the Cockpit' — the most detailed firsthand account published in English-language media 2. 'How Ordinary Israelis Foiled a Hijacking' by Amit Segal — framing the event as what it was: an act of terrorism stopped by passengers 3. A column by Douglas Murray connecting the attack to broader patterns of Islamic terrorism against Israelis

Publication 2 current

The Guardian

The Guardian is a British center-left newspaper with a large international digital readership. It positions itself as a paper of record for the progressive left. Its editorial line is explicitly progressive — pro-Palestinian, skeptical of Israel, pro-immigration, and vocal on climate and identity topics. Its factual reporting is generally accurate on non-political stories; on stories with a political dimension it exhibits significant framing bias. It is among the Western media outlets with the most documented anti-Israel framing. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** The Guardian described the incident as an 'apparent brawl,' also reported as 'confrontation between the pilot and co-pilot.' Both are deficient. 'Brawl' implies mutual, chaotic fighting — not a calculated terrorist attack in which one party stabbed the other and attempted to crash a plane full of Israeli passengers. The Guardian's framing was consistent with its pattern of minimizing violence by Muslim actors against Jewish or Israeli targets.

The Independent

The Independent is a British digital news publication (print edition ceased in 2016). It has a center-left to progressive editorial line, particularly on Middle Eastern and immigration topics. Its editorial board is conservative-leaning and among the most intellectually serious in U.S. media. The Journal is more likely than most major outlets to report the full factual record on stories that conflict with progressive narratives. **FlyDubai FZ1073 coverage:** The Journal's headline — 'Pilot-on-Pilot Stabbing Forces Emergency Landing' — accurately names the stabbing and the emergency landing but uses neutral language that does not convey the attack's intended outcome (crashing the plane), the attacker's identity (Omani, radicalized), the flight destination (Israel), or the terrorist motive. Better than 'altercation' language used by competitors, but still falls short of the full picture. An earlier article reportedly used 'struggle in the cockpit.' Follow-up reporting was more thorough.
